Small animal care has changed dramatically in the last decade. Standard of diagnosis and treatment are reaching new heights, and we are pushing our acumen to bring our standards on par with our fellow human medical professionals.
With even the veterinary profession taking a plunge into the corporate world, Animal Care Centers are very proud to stay true to their core as community based animal hospitals. We provide and recommend services based on your pet’s lifestyle rather than corporate recommendations.
Animal Care Centers of Long Island has 3 separate locations as follows:
Animal Hospital of Long Island (Est 1991)
28 Main St, Hempstead, NY 11550
Animal Hospital of Long Island was established in 1991 in Hempstead when the Village of Hempstead was going through a severe downturn. Based on the success of North Shore Animal League at North Shore of Long Island, Animal Hospital of Long Island was started as South Shore Animal Hospital and Adoption Center. Because of funding limitations, with a heavy heart the adoption center was closed after about 2000 successful adoptions. Since 1997, Animal Hospital of Long Island has been serving the community as full service animal hospital. Animal Hospital of Long Island has proudly served emergencies any time of the day or night.
Animal Hospital of Elmont (Est 1965)
782 Elmont Road, Elmont, NY 11003
Animal Hospital of Elmont has been a part of Animal Care Centers since February 2016. It was established in 1965 by Dr. Herbert Roosenoff as Animal Hospital of Elmont. Dr. Roger Warren took over the practice in 1973 and has been serving the community for last 40 years. For many families, Dr. Roger Warren is not only a veterinarian but also a family and a community member. It was Dr. Warren’s desire to keep his legacy of Animal Hospital of Elmont as a family oriented animal hospital with the commitment of services and dedication to pet care. Dr. Warren was comfortable to part with the Animal Hospital and give the charge to Animal Care Centers. At this time, Animal Hospital of Elmont is not only completely renovated but also fully upgraded with the latest diagnostic tools like digital X-Ray, endoscopy, ultrasound and so more. Woodbury Road Veterinary Hospital (Est. 1956)
558 Woodbury Road, Plainview, NY 11803
Woodbury Road Veterinary Hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in the Hicksville-Plainview-Jericho-Syosset area established in 1956 by Dr. Goris as Hicksville Animal Hospital when this area used to be farmland. Hicksville Animal Hospital served all species including cattle, horses, sheep, goats, dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and guineapigs. At the peak of his professional achievements, he sold Hicksville Animal Hospital to Dr. Poggi’s administration. Hicksville Animal Hospital flourished and served almost 8000-10000 clients at one time, and was ultimately sold to Dr. Jackie Shanata in 2001. Dr. Jackie changed the name from Hicksville Animal Hospital to Woodbury Road Veterinary Hospital, making it a more apt name. She then sold the practice to Dr. Jaipal Rana, who took the challenge of ownership and as a practicing veterinarian on September 10th, 2003. It was challenging, and only possible with the support of Animal Hospital of Long Island.
