Animal Care Center of Plainview is one of the oldest hospitals in the Hicksville-Plainview-Jericho-Syosset area established in 1956 by Dr. Goris as Hicksville Animal Hospital when this area used to be farmland. Hicksville Animal Hospital served all species including cattle, horses, sheep, goats, dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and guinea pigs. At the peak of his professional achievements, he sold Hicksville Animal Hospital to Dr. Poggi’s administration. Hicksville Animal Hospital flourished and served almost 8000-10000 clients at one time, and was ultimately sold to Dr. Jackie Shanata in 2001. Dr. Jackie changed the name from Hicksville Animal Hospital to Woodbury Road Veterinary Hospital, making it a more apt name. She then sold the practice to Dr. Jaipal Rana, who took the challenge of ownership and as a practicing veterinarian on September 10th, 2003. It was challenging, and only possible with the support of Animal Hospital of Long Island.
