Present-day Animal Care Center of Huntington used to be a chicken farm in the 1950’s and 1960’s. As Long Island transformed and became more suburban, the property was converted into a hospital. In 1985, Al Selmer purchased the property to fulfill his promise to his son, Dr. Michael Selmer, a talented veterinarian fresh from Michigan State University. Dr. Michael Selmer built a thriving veterinary practice, eager to practice naturopathy and a holistic approach. His passion for infusing both Western and Eastern veterinary techniques led him to pursue his next endeavor with LIVS. In August 2018, Dr. Rana expanded the footprint of Animal Care Centers of Long Island into Suffolk County to extend the same superior standard of care to more communities.
